X Archive – X Marks the Bökship
“X Marks the Bökship is a bookshop/artists’ space in London, UK.
The X Archive is the archival collection of the bookshop, and it includes books, that are also for sale in the shop. The catalogue forms a way for people to get to know the collection, and includes the books(covers) and the information about them, as well as the X-essay which is an essay written by the director of the shop, concerning the importance of X and/for the mentality of the X Marks the Bökship.
The design is based on the idea that X Archive is an ongoing project, and therefore more “books” can be added. Each page contains the bookcover and the information (title, writer, publishing house, launch date, price) of each book. The X essay is added in the end of the book, as a small booklet within it.
Each letter of the essay is replaced with an “X” of a different font, and is therefore created a text and a language out of x’s, showing the importance of the letter/symbol.
The book is printed on a Risograph: black ink on coloured paper.”
